Best pet cameras UK: check on your pet from your phone
Pet cameras let you see, talk to and reward your pet when you're away. Here's how to compare them without overspending.
How we compare
We never label a product "best" without transparent criteria. We don't fabricate hands-on testing, ratings or prices.
- Night vision for round-the-clock viewing
- Two-way audio to talk to your pet
- Motion alerts to your phone
- Clear subscription requirements for cloud recording
A pet camera lets you check on your pet from your phone. Treat-tossing cams add interaction; simple monitor cams are cheaper for basic check-ins. The best camera depends on whether you want to just watch or also interact.
Live view vs cloud recording
Most cameras offer free live view, but saving clips to the cloud usually needs a subscription. If you only want to check in live, you may not need to pay extra.
Two-way audio and treat tossing
Two-way audio lets you talk to your pet. Treat-tossing cams add a fun interaction — useful for dogs that respond to cues, though some pets are startled by it at first.
Night vision and motion alerts
Night vision matters if you're checking on your pet after dark. Motion alerts tell you when your pet moves, which can flag changes in routine.
A camera isn't a pet sitter
A camera lets you observe and interact, but it can't feed, walk or comfort your pet in person. Use it alongside proper care, not instead of it.
FAQs
Do pet cameras need Wi-Fi?
Yes, to stream to your phone. Some can record to a local card without Wi-Fi, but remote viewing needs an internet connection.
